Q:What is the complete scriptural view on masturbation? Please can you give us as many examples as possible of acts that can be regarded as masturbation?

A:The WELS Catechism, 1998 Edition, at questions 91 and 92 refers you to the following passages from God’s Word. I Thessalonians 4:3-5; Ephesians 5:3-5; Ephesians 5:12; and Matthew 5:27-29. As you read these passages you come across these phrases as “God’s Will:” “avoid sexual immorality,” “control his own body,” “not in passionate lust,” “No immoral . . . person . . . has any place in the kingdom of God,” “There must not be even a hint of sexual immorality…obscenity, foolish talk, or coarse joking,” “It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret,” and “You have heard that is was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

It is obvious that God forbids all impure words and lustful thoughts.

I don’t know if this is the “complete scriptural view on masturbation” but it is the summary of it.
I don’t think that it is necessary on this website to give examples of acts that can be regarded as masturbation. Masturbation is achieving sexual orgasm by a means other than through the sexual intimacy of husband and wife in which the person himself or herself, through all kinds of different means, generally stimulates himself or herself. Usually there is some type of lustful thought or pornography involved with the act. Another person may be involved with the act to provide the stimulation.

Philippians 4:8, “Whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable…think about such things.”

God’s blessings!
