| Q: | I have a problem with a couple of my youth group girls. God put it on my heart to talk about lasciviousness and our behavior as Christians. I have tried to find something (Bible study--something) on how a lady should act. Right now they are all virgins, but one hugs everyone pressing her breasts against them and won't let go. What really upset me was three new teen boys just gave their lives to the Lord and not even a minute later a few of our girls started hugging on them and I heard them say "dang baby let go, dang girl" And I could see where their mind was going. Satan stole the thoughts of Christ right out of their heads! I have tried talking to them, but it just doesn't seem to work- They just dont get that they are causing others to stumble. What do I do?? Some are even to the point of telling her not to come back. But she obviously needs to be there!! Please help me. | ||||||
| A: | There is nothing better than plain and loving Christian talk to these boys and girls about their bodies and the control that God would have them exercise over their bodies. Find the girls good mentors. 1 Timothy 2:9 “I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety,” might be a good introductory passage. You could easily move from dress to actions. Being a good mentor to them and coaching them continually would be excellent. I am sure that you do that, but let them know that you want to do that for them. Young men and young women can be very naïve about how their dress or actions impact upon a person of the other gender. Be bold in talking about it. Teach them to show their excitement and joy in the Lord in ways that will not harm the faith of others. Lead them into a discussion of Matthew 18:6 “But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” Lead them to understand what offense (by that I mean to cause harm to another’s faith--we might call it a stumbling of the faith) others may take because of their actions. Be patient and firm and loving. Don’t turn them away, but don’t let them turn others away from Jesus either by their actions. God’s blessings! | ||||||
