Q:I feel artificial insemination is wrong for single woman and lesbians. How does the church feel about this? I actually feel it is something that should have never been. That is the same for adoption by homosexual couples. I feel that a daycare or youth groups should be allowed to discriminate homosexuals(by not hiring them, not by beating them or calling them names). I think it is in the best interests of a child.

A:When God ordained marriage, he also blessed husband and wife with the ability to bear children. He did this so that a child would have a father and a mother. We recognize that there are circumstances where a single parent may have to raise a child or several children. This happens when one parent dies, or when parents divorce, or when a woman has a child outside of marriage. Yet this is not an ideal situation as any single parent can testify. It is difficult, even impossible, to be both a father and a mother to a child. Those who are in such a situation need our understanding and support.

However, the situation you describe is different. First of all, we are dealing with a sinful lifestyle--homosexuality. Secondly, we are dealing with someone who wants a blessing from God--children--but rejects that manner in which God arranged to give this blessing--through marriage.
