CSC: WELS Topical Q&A: Christian Living - Human Behavior: Gender Roles: Strong-Opinioned Woman
Most Recently Posted Ask a Question
Q:Is there anything in your church that frowns upon a woman being opinionated or having a strong "personality"? I'm not talking in terms of voting or church politics. Just in general terms of the way a person is.

A:If having strong opinions means holding firmly to solid beliefs firmly anchored in God's Word, it is a good trait in both sexes. If it means stubbornly insisting on one's own opinions without regard for others, it is a bad trait in both sexes. If having a strong personality means standing up for what is right by word and example, and if it means leading in a way that is both courageous, humble, and kind, it is a good trait in both sexes. If it means stubbornly or selfishly pushing one's way on others, it is a bad trait in both sexes.

Though they may be applied in different stations of life, the traits of good Christian character are the same for all Christians.
