| In a sense, you are both correct. True, God says that he "will rain down bread from heaven for you." (Exodus 16:4) That verse emphasizes the supernatural nature of this miracle. Only God would be able to provide this food. And also in the same chapter it states: "In the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp. When the dew was gone, thin flakes like frost on the ground appeared on the desert floor. When the Israelites saw it, they said to each other, 'What is it?' For they did not know what it was. Moses said to them, 'It is the bread the LORD has given you to eat' " (verses 13b-15 of Ex. 16). Just as rain and dew are moisture the Lord provides for his earth, God poured out sustenance for his people. It is great to notice that you were talking about God's providence while you were enjoying his providence at your supper table. Our faithful heavenly Father still daily provides for his people. |
