Q:A few years back I had a miscarriage. I was wondering, because I was only in my 10th week. What happens to the baby? Does it go to heaven or is it not considered to be of being yet at that age. It does have a heart beat at that age but it never got a chance to be baptized or even named. What is the belief in this matter?

A:Scripture teaches that life begins at conception (Psalm 139:13-18; Psalm 51:5). Even though your baby died at 10 weeks of gestation, it was a human being with a developing body and a complete soul.

Now we might ask, "What is the eternal future for such a child?" That is a question the Bible doesn't answer. We simply entrust such a child into the hands of a loving and gracious God whose own Son was born as a baby, lived and died as our substitute, and rose as proof of our resurrection. Such a loving God gives us hope even in the face of death.
