CSC: WELS Topical Q&A: Sacrament of Holy Baptism: Other: non-members
Most Recently Posted Ask a Question
Q:If a same-sex couple from the neighborhood (non-members) were to come to you and request Holy Baptism for their baby, would you administer the Sacrament? This recently occured in my parish and some were offended, while others of us rejoiced in welcoming the baby into the Holy Christian Church. They requested a private baptism, but my pastor insisted it be administered with the witnesses of the visible Church.

A:Yes, I would. I would never deny Holy Baptism to a child. I probably would have done it privately like they requested, simply because that was their request. Little children are a part of the "all Nations," that Jesus told us to make disciples of by baptizing and teaching Matthew 28:19. See also Luke 18:15-17.
