| Q: | My sister recently asked my brother and me to both be the godfathers of her newborn daughter. I have never known anyone to have more than two godparents. How do you feel about that? | ||||||
| A: | The Bible does not speak about godparents. The practice of providing godparents for those being baptized is a church custom. The practice varies from place to place. It was not uncommon in my family for there to be more than two godparents. In my wife's family it was customary to have only two. In Christian freedom we can have godparents or not have them. We can have two or more than two. I would not be concerned about the number. | ||||||
