CSC: WELS Topical Q&A: The Beginning and the End: Creation: Door-to-Door evangelism

Q:I've searched for a direct answer to this question on the Q & A section, but could not find it. The question is this: What is the WELS view on door-to-door evangelism and "street-corner" preaching?

I do understand the importance of sharing the Word, but admit I am uncomfortable with this type of evangelism. Also, if WELS does partake in this kind of evangelism would my discomfort with that.htmlect prevent from me being asked to join?

At this point, I'm waiting for the next Bible information class to start. Certainly the question will be answered then, but would like to have an idea going into it.

A:Door-to-door and open air presentations of law and gospel are two ways to place the gospel of Jesus Christ on human hearts, but they are not the only ways. Although we Christians are always looking for ways to communicate Christ to those who do not know him in faith, we must be careful not to leave brothers and sisters with the impression that door-to-door evangelism is the only way to go. Many Christians have found that they can more easily share their Savior through established relationships that present multiple opportunities for a Christian witness.

If you feel personally uncomfortable with door-to-door evangelism, you should not be expected to participate in this particular form of evangelism. It is hoped, however, that you will still be eager to communicate your loving Savior through some other means, and that you will support your fellow Christians who do go door-to-door.
