| Q: | I was wondering about what people may consider ghosts being either good, bad, or complacent. So I know that no one stays on the earth after they die, and I know that there are demons and angels, my question is: If someone claims to have seen a "ghost" what was it? It could have been a demon I know, maybe it could have been an angel...but when I think about it neither of those really fit the mold. A demon would be more to tempt not intrigue, and one of God's angels would be to help and watch over. A "ghost," might look like a person, but what about when something moves for no reason, or a radio turns on or switches stations, etc...(had those happen to me)? I know if it happens to you whatever it is can't take God away and that's all that matters. I also know that if it is a demon it must obey you when you tell it to leave in the name of the Lord Jesus. I was just wondering, could it be something besides those two, we as humans only use about 10% of our brains, what can the rest do, could the brain cause something like that to happen even though we didn't try to. There isn't even science to back up why these things happen I just wonder why they do. (You can't deny nothing like this has ever happened either, I'm not worried simply curious.) | ||||||
| A: | You are correct that the souls or spirits of deceased people to not roam the earth. At death they go to either heaven or hell. You are also right in recognizing that "ghosts" could be demons or angels or simply the power of a person's imagination. Scripture reveals that angels can take on the appearance of human beings (Genesis 19), and if this is true of angels it could also be true of fallen angels or demons. We might also note that demons do not always appear as devilish looking creatures. Sometimes they appear at angels of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). So their temptation can included a delusion about their identity as well as their motives. Beyond that the Bible says nothing. It reveals no other spiritual beings. | ||||||
